Lady Jaguars beat Purvis

The North Pike Lady Jaguars defeated the Purvis Lady Tornadoes 6-3 Thursday night in Region 7-4 fastpitch softball action.
The Lady Jaguars (10-5, 4-1), coached by Sonya Wallace, continue division action today as they host the Sumrall Lady Bobcats. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6:30 p.m.
North Pike 6, Purvis 3
The Lady Jaguars managed to overcome a sluggish first inning start to score five runs in the second inning to secure a 5-0 lead.
The Lady Tornadoes battled back in the fifth inning scoring three runs to cut into North Pike’s lead at 5-3, but the Lady Jaguars would plate one run in the sixth inning to push their lead out to 6-3 and held on to collect the win.
Madison Bigner was the winning pitcher for North Pike with nine strikeouts and no walks.
Jami Spears was the offensive leader at the plate for the Lady Jaguars with two doubles. Jenna Brock contributed three singles. Baylee Bryant had a double. Hitting safely were Sarah Brock, Janiah Talbert and Linley Smith.
