BC raising money for state rings

The Bogue Chitto girls basketball team recently won the state basketball championship. To commemorate the achievement, the community is raising money to purchase a state championship ring for each coach, player and team manager.
Parent of one of the players Randy Jackson created a Gofundme account to help raise the $7,000 needed to purchase all of the rings. The team is also selling three and a half gallon buckets of laundry detergent.
“For some of these girls, it’s the last time they will ever play sports,” Jackson wrote on the team’s Gofundme account profile. “For some, it will be one of the greatest memories they ever get to make. A ring to celebrate this accomplishment would be a keepsake forever.”
“This is a wonderful group of young women,” Jackson said. “Selfless, caring, classy and just plain special. I know this because my daughter is a freshman on the team. Even as a young ninth grader my daughter and every girl are treated wonderfully. They are taken in, cared for, coached and taught not just basketball, not just academics, but also how to be the type of people we all hope our children become. They deserve this.”
“I know that is a large sum, but I know each member of the team would be so grateful and honored to have a keepsake of this fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime moment in their lives,” Jackson wrote. “It would make me so happy to know these girls will have the opportunity to have something they would otherwise not be able to afford. Your donation is so much appreciated and will never be forgotten.”
Jackson hopes to raise the money by May 1. Laundry detergent options are Free and Clear, Tide and Gain, and can be purchased for $25 by April 6. To purchase a bucket of detergent contact coach Christi Terrell, a player or manager or Bogue Chitto Attendance Center.
