Kinsey Dahlin’s game-winning RBI single in the seventh helped the Enterprise Lady Jackets defeat the West Lincoln Lady Bears 3-2 Wednesday night.
“The girls played hard,” said Enterprise assistant coach Tyler King. “I was very pleased with our effort both offensively and defensively. Overall, we are glad to get the win.”
The Lady Jackets (6-3, 2-0) will return to action Saturday as they travel to Monticello to participate in Lawrence County’s softball tournament. Enterprise will play Lawrence County at 10 a.m. and Bogue Chitto at 1 p.m.
The Lady Bears (5-4, 0-2) will resume action March 31 when they host Prentiss for a Region 7-2A varsity doubleheader, starting at 5 p.m.
Lady Jackets 3, Lady Bears 2
The Region 7-2A contest remained scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when Enterprise managed to push across one run.
The Lady Bears would battle back to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the fifth.
In the top of the seventh, West Lincoln grabbed a 2-1 lead, but Enterprise would answer in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 2-2 on a RBI single by Carlee Nations. Dahlin then hit the game-winning single that scored Carlee Nations.
“This was a great defensive game for both teams,” said West Lincoln coach Andrew Redd. “Our girls did a great job fighting hard to stay in the game. Offensively, we have got to do a better job moving runners around when we have runners on base. We left too many runners on base today.”
Carlee Nations collected the win for Enterprise with no strikeouts and one walk. Haley Nations (1K, 1BB) was the starting pitcher for the Lady Jackets.
Megan Gerald absorbed the setback on the mound for West Lincoln with four strikeouts and one walk.
Jana Nations directed the Lady Jackets’ offense with three singles. Haley Nations contributed two singles. Hitting safely were Carlee Nations, Kinsey Dahlin and Brooke Foster.
Millane Lewis led the Lady Bears at the plate with a inside the park homerun. Peyton White provided a double. Anna Brooke Davis, MaKennah Redd, Megan Gerald and Skylar Hall hit safely.
