Bobcats prevail over Tylertown

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats were victorious over the Tylertown Chiefs 13-12 Tuesday night in a non-district baseball contest at Stan Long Field.
“This was a good win for our guys,” said BC coach Tony Davis. “They fought hard until the very end.”
The Bobcats (1-2) will resume action Friday as they travel to Loyd Star to play in the Lincoln County Invitational tournament against the Hornets, starting at 8 p.m.

Both teams battled through wet field conditions and hit the ball well. The Chiefs got on the board first after Keyon Jefferson hit a leadoff double. He later stole third base and was sent home on Aaron Jackson’s hit. The Bobcats managed to get out of the early jam when Tanner Gunter struck out Miles Reagan.
The Bobcats got on the scoreboard in the second inning with a two-run push. Both the Bobcats and the Chiefs would score three runs each in the third inning.
BC scored three more runs in the fifth inning to secure a 8-7 lead. In the sixth inning, Tylertown’s offense exploded with a five-run surge to reclaim the lead at 12-8. But the Bobcats rallied back in the bottom of the seventh with a five-run surge of their own to capture their first win of the season.
Tanner Gunther was the winning pitcher for the Bobcats with five strikeouts and two walks.
Jackson suffered the loss on the mound for the Chiefs with one strikeout and six walks.
Kobe Roberts directed the Bobcats with a single and a double. Taylor McKenzie had a double. Tucker Lambert provided three singles and a double. Tyler “Rudy” Brumfield hit a single. Gunther had a single and a double. Trey “Doc” Nettles had a single and a double.
Keyon Jefferson directed the Chiefs at the plate with a double and a single. Dylan Burch contributed a single and a double and a homerun. Tobias Conerly provided a double. Tanner Rayburn hit a triple. OJ Magee had a single.
In JV action, the Bobcats won 2-0. Eli Wallace was the winning pitcher for Bogue Chitto.
