BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats and the Lawrence County Cougars were victorious in Saturday’s non-division contest at the Bobcat Palace.

In the girls’ contest, the Lady Cats defeated the Lady Cougars 54-35.

In boys’ action, the Cougars roared past the Bobcats 57-38.

Lady Cats 54, Lady Cougars 35 

Lawrence County commanded a 17-13 lead in the first, but BC roared back with a 14-4 run to take the lead 27-21 at halftime.

The Lady Cats outscored the Lady Cougars 27-14 in the final two periods to secure the victory.

“We made some really bad turnovers in the first half that we need to stop doing,” said BC coach Christ Terrell. “In second half, we maintained composure and this was a big win for us.”

Shay Jefferson powered the Lady Cats with a game-high 16 points, three rebounds and four steals. Zariah Matthews pumped in 15 points, five rebounds and three assists. Terrah Nelson netted eight points, six rebounds and four steals. Karlie Williams scored five points and had three rebounds. Christian Black had four points and four rebounds. Taneshia May finished with three points. Takiyah Godbolt and Karly Leake added one point each.

Haven Johnson was the top scorer for the Lady Cougars with 10 points. Zipporah Baylis contributed eight points. Cam Davis provided six points. Jada McDuffey and Deniasha Dickson scored four points each.

Lawrence Co. 57, Bogue Chitto 38 

The Cougars were too powerful for the Bobcats in the first half as Lawrence County took a commanding 31-21 lead into halftime.

Lawrence County held Bogue Chitto scoreless in the third period and outscored the Bobcats 26-17 in the final two quarters to collect the win.

Gabe Lewis directed the Cougars with 11 points. Keyshawn Feazell chipped in nine points. Vernell Garner and Mark Rhodes provided seven points each. Lane Rutland scored six points. Phillip Moore had five points. Corbin Lewis and Jerome Dudley added four points each. Agauis McLaurin and Reggie Statham finished with two points each.

Tyler Brumfield paced the Bobcats with 18 points and six rebounds. DJ Nunnery contributed eight points and six rebounds. Malik Richardson netted six points and had seven rebounds. Jermaine Black and Demarcus Godbolt had three points each.
