Funeral services for William Arthur Hodges will be Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) with burial in Matthews Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. Bro. James Jackson will be officiating the services assisted by Bro. Joel Brister. Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, from 5 until 9 p.m.
Mr. Hodges, 92, of Brookhaven, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at Haven Hall Nursing Home in Brookhaven. He was born Feb. 26, 1923, in Bogue Chitto to Jessie and Rhoda Roberts Hodges.
He was a retired truck driver from Nance and Collums for 32 years. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Bogue Chitto Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan as well as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 56 years, Lena Hodges; sisters, Lucille Garner and Louise Burch; and brothers, Jesse E. Hodges and Earl Hodges.
Survivors include his daughter, Janice Brister and her husband, Shelby, of Bogue Chitto; grandchildren, Sherry Sellers and husband, Barry, of Bogue Chitto, Joel Brister and wife, Christy, of Kingsport, Tennessee and Charlotte Boyd of Waynesboro; great-grandchildren, Megan Bedwell, Chelsey McWhorter and husband, Roy, Nicholas Blomgren and his wife, Mandy, Jacob Brister, Michael Brister, Dalena Boyd and Brody Boyd; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Matthews Chapel Cemetery Fund, Willene Posey secretary.
