Police are investigating two reports of shots being fired in the Brookhaven area.
The Brookhaven Police Department responded to a report of shots fired on East Independence Street around 4:30 p.m. Monday. Officers at that time said it was reported that shots had been fired into/at a house, and that the subject or subjects possibly shooting were in a vehicle.
About 20 minutes later, BPD received a report of shots being fired on Main Street at Railroad Avenue. An officer on the scene reported he did not initially find any evidence of shooting. Neither incidents have been confirmed.
In the midst of reports and officers working to find the source of any shots fired, BPD Chief Bobby Bell could only say that “there was a lot going on,” at the moment and “we have a possible situation.”
This is a developing story.
