Enterprise (4-5, 1-3), coached by Brooks Burns, captured a big 40-8 win over West Lincoln to keep its playoffs hopes alive Friday night.
This week, the Jackets are on the road as they invade Liberty to take on the Amite County Trojans in the final regular season contest.
The Trojans (7-2, 3-1), coached by Sedric Cain, defeated Prentiss 20-6 Friday to clinch second place in Region 7-2A action.
Keontae Hughes was the top rusher for the Trojans last week with 10 carries for 75 yards. Lantravious Franklin had 20 rushes for 66 yards.
Marquaviuos Winfield was the defensive leader for Amite County with 11 tackles. Robert Mitchell had 10 tackles. Damon Smith finished with eight tackles.
Enterprise’s top offensive performer against West Lincoln was Braxton Thompson with 18 carries for 108 yards.
Zach Hodges completed 4-of-8 passes for 34 yards. Jontavius Smith was the top receiver with two catches for 26 yards.
Defensively, Devon Kirtfield powered the Jackets’ defense with five tackles and an interception. Drake Allen, Tanner Waldrop, Braxton Thompson, Tristan Cantrell, Adam McGee and Wayne Lambert contributed three tackles each. Delton Nelton and Jontavious Smith intercepted a pass each. Waldrop intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown.
Last year, the Trojans thumped Enterprise 66-6 at Harry Cole Field.
My prediction: Amite County prevails 56-8.
