Wesson (3-7, 0-4), coached by Ronald Greer, suffered a 23-7 loss to the Franklin County Bulldogs at Stone Stadium Friday.
This week, the Cobras are looking to end their season on a winning note as they prepare to invade Woodville to battle the Wilkinson County Wildcats.
The Wildcats (5-5, 2-2), coached by Kenneth Brown, are currently in third place in Region 7-3A action after shutting out Port Gibson 40-0 Friday.
Senior quarterback Desmond Hunter had a dominating performance for the Wildcats as he completed 19-of-31 passes for 346 yards and three touchdowns.
Anthony Juan was the top receiver for Wilkinson County with seven catches for 182 yards. Jaquarious Stewart caught six passes for 88 yards.
Tremorrion Mealey had a big game on defense for the Wildcats with 11 tackles. Juntavious Cage finished with nine tackles. Lakendrick Washington had eight tackles.
Wesson’ top offensive performer last week against Franklin County was Peyton Burns as he completed 4-of-14 passes for 29 yards and two interceptions.
Cornelius Barlow was the top receiver with three catches for 23 yards. Jermaine James led the ground attack for Wesson with two carries for 26 yards.
Defensively, Demarcus Smith led the Cobras with 13 tackles. Jemarcus Patterson, Kendrick Brown and Davion Frye provided five tackles apiece. Craft finished with two tackles and had a fumble recovery.
Last year, Wilkinson County roared past Wesson 33-6
My prediction: The Wildcats prevail 42-14.
