West Lincoln (2-5, 0-2), led by first-year head coach Charlie Jackson, traveled to Liberty last week to take on a very explosive Amite County Trojans team and lost 68-12 in Region 7-2A action.
This week, the Bears return home to Perry Miller Field after a two-week road trip to host the Prentiss Bulldogs for a Thursday night special.
The Bulldogs (4-4, 2-0), coached by Tim McNair, defeated the Loyd Star Hornets 58-20 in Prentiss last week to remain undefeated in region action.
Last week, The Bulldogs were led by quarterback Jalen Madison. He completed 7-of-16 passes for 165 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. Madison also rushed for 33 yards. Thaddeus Funchess was the leading rusher with 40 yards.
West Lincoln’s top offensive performer against Amite County was senior quarterback Jayden Rushing. He completed 6-of-26 passes for 84 yards and had two interceptions. West Lincoln finished with 24 carries for 51 yards.
Julian Anderson was the leader in rushing with 10 carries for 18 yards followed by Rushing with nine carries for 15 yards. Chase Owens had four receptions for 81 yards.
Defensively, Lofton Sills and Matthew Allred led the Bears with eight tackles. Anderson contributed five tackles.
My prediction: Prentiss prevails 49-12.
