A routine traffic stop Wednesday evening led police to the arrest of two men who were each charged with possession of marijuana and crystal meth with intent to distribute.
A Brookhaven Police officer stopped a black GMC pickup truck for speeding at 6:55 p.m. on Highway 550. Police Chief Bobby Bell said the officer smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and proceeded to check for warrants on either passenger.
The passenger in the truck, Lorenzo White, 25, of 721 Old Brook Road, did have a warrant and he was arrested. Bell said it was at this time that the driver, Brian Domanick, 36, of 38 Alexander Road in Jayess, gave permission for officers to search the vehicle.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers found one bottle of Busch beer still cold next to the driver. Under the seat they located a black plastic bag that contained a scale and 10.7 grams of marijuana, as well as a plastic container that held 13.4 grams of crystal meth, Bell said.
This led to the arrest of both parties. White was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of crystal meth with intent to distribute. Domanick was charged with speeding, possession of open beer, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of crystal meth with intent to distribute. Both are in Lincoln County jail.
