Lady Cobras cruise past Franklin Co.

WESSON – The Wesson Lady Cobras continued their dominance in Region 7-2A softball action Tuesday night with a 11-1 win over the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs.
“We hit a really good game tonight,” said Wesson coach Michelle Nunnery. “Our third and fourth batters hit back-to-back home runs to help run the score up against a tough Franklin County team.”
Wesson (13-9, 4-0) will resume action Thursday as it hosts the Hazlehurst Lady Indians. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

The Lady Cobras defeated the Lady Bulldogs in a six-inning contest to collect a 11-1 win.
Kaitlyn Smith (RBI-3) and Harmoni Ashley (RBI-2) got two home runs each to lead the Lady Cobras at the plate. Nikki Guess provided a double and a single. Brooke Jones and Aurianna Vaughn contributed two singles each. Riley Smith and Arie Douglas both hit doubles.
The top fielder for the Cobras was Brooke Jones at shortstop with three outs and five assists, which consisted of two double plays. Harmoni Ashley also had six outs at first base.
Timara Mackey, Emilee Wallace, and Kaytlyn Smith were the top hitters for the Lady Bulldogs with two singles each. Mackey was the only Franklin player to cross home plate for a run.
Second baseman Malaine Moak was the top fielder for the Lady Bulldogs with three outs and one assist.
In junior varsity action, The Lady Cobras beat the Lady Bulldogs 3-1.
Shaylin Green was the winning pitcher for Wesson with three strikeouts and two walks.
Green directed the Lady Cobras’ offense with a double and a single. Arie Douglas provided two singles.
Bre Westbrook led Wesson’s defense with four outs at first base. Douglas had three assists and two outs at shortstop.
