Lady Bears capture third straight district crown

The West Lincoln Lady Bears swept the Amite County Lady Trojans to clinch their third straight Region 7-2A division crown Monday night with a 12-2 victory.
West Lincoln traveled to Liberty Thursday and crushed the Lady Trojans 25-3.
“It feels good to get the win, especially if it is district,” said West Lincoln coach Andrew Redd. “The girls played hard and we are hitting the ball a lot better here lately.”
In Saturday results from Richland’s softball tournament, the Lady Bears were victorious in three game as they beat Pearl 12-8, Richland 10-6 and Clinton 6-1.
The Lady Bears (17-3, 2-0) will continue action today as they travel to Bogue Chitto to take on the Lady Cats. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

West Lincoln knocked off Amite County in a five-inning contest to clinch their third straight division crown.
Makennah Redd was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bears with two strikeouts and no walks.
Jana Case, Layton Sills and Megan Gerald powered the Lady Bears at the plate with a double and a single each. Hanna Moak, Makennah Redd and Skylar Hall ripped a pair of singles apiece. Hitting safely were Morgan Newman, Sara Jane Doty, Alli Mullins, Peyton White and Millane Lewis.
In junior varsity action, West Lincoln blanked the Lady Trojans 7-0.
Skylar Hall collected the win on the mound for the Lady Bears with one strikeout and no walks.
Morgan Newman led West Lincoln’s offense with two singles. Madison McNatt provided a double. Hitting safely were Ashley Tabor, Bailey Wilson, Maddox Redd, Skylar Hall, Georganna Allen and McKenzie Pyles.
W. Lincoln 25, Amite Co. 3
The Lady Bears clobbered the Lady Trojans in a three-inning contest Thursday.
Redd tossed the victory for West Lincoln with no strikeouts and one walk.
Moak directed the offensive hitting clinic for the Lady Bears with a home run and a single. Redd continued the onslaught with a triple and a double. Gerald, Case and Hall contributed two singles apiece. White provided a double and a single. Emalyn Langley, Micah Powell, Allen, Pyles, Sills, Lewis, Mullins and Doty hit safely.
In JV action, West Lincoln won 5-0 in Liberty.
Hall earned the win on the rubber for West Lincoln with two strikeouts and no walks.
Pyles was the top hitter for the Lady Bears with a triple. Hall and Allen hit a double each. Hitting safely were MaKayla Shelton and Maddox Redd.

Redd was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bears with no strikeouts and three walks.
Case was the top slugger at the plate for West Lincoln with two home runs and a single. Moak contributed a home run and three singles. Redd and Gerald provided a home run and single each. Sills ripped three singles. Lewis and Newman had two singles each. Lewis hit a double. Doty and Mullins hit safely.

Redd secured her second win of the evening on the mound for the Lady Bears with no strikeouts and two walks.
Gerald directed the charge for West Lincoln’s offense with a home run and two singles. Doty provided a home run and a single. Moak contributed a triple and a double. Hitting safely were Mullins and Redd.
