Two more indictments by a recent Lincoln County grand jury session have been made public, including one for a sexual battery charge.

Marquise Deveon Price, 19, of 713 Middleton St., was indicted Sept. 8 for sexual battery. The indictment reads that on June 25, Price willfully, unlawfully and feloniously engaged in sexual penetration with a female person without her consent.

Price is out on a $25,000 bond.

Robert Elmo January, 26, of 177 Columbus St. in Pattison, was indicted for two counts of uttering forgery. The indictment says on or about May 27 he forged a check to Brookhaven Honda and Home Hardware. The indictment says January had the intent to defraud Brookhaven Honda, Pattinson Communication Corporation, Southern Welding and AmSouth Bank. January is out on bond.

No bills

Cases that go to grand jury and are not indicted are referred to in the legal system as “no bills.” When the grand jury agrees the evidence is sufficient to establish the commission of a crime (as it is presented), it returns an indictment endorsed by the grand jury foreman with the phrase “true bill” to indicate the information presented is sufficient to justify the trial of the suspect. When information presented is not sufficient, the term “no bill” is written on the indictment. However, even if a grand jury does not indict, the prosecutor can return to the same grand jury and present additional evidence, get a new grand jury or even file criminal charges regardless, according to legal resources.

No bills are knocked back down to the lower courts as possible misdemeanors after the grand jury decides not to proceed with felony charges.

• Brandon Conliff for burglary of a dwelling.

• Irene Byrd for aggravated domestic violence.

• Christopher Hamilton for cyberstalking.

• David Jones Sr. for stalking.

• Michael Thomas for aggravated assault.

• Shirley Jackson for burglary of a dwelling.

• Anthony Ruby for burglary of a dwelling and conspiracy.

• Melody Travis for burglary of a dwelling and conspiracy.

• Christopher Rancifer for failure to support a minor child.

• Bruce Sanders for failure to support a minor child.

• Rashan D. Smith aka Rashand Smith for failure to support a minor child.
