Lincoln Co. Nationals cruise past Franklin Co in opener

BUDE – The Lincoln County Nationals defeated the Franklin County All-Stars 13-6 in the opening round of the Dixie Youth 11- and-12-year-old District Six Tournament at Leroy “Cowboy” Jones Memorial Field in Bude.
The tournament continued Saturday as the Lincoln County Nationals tangled with Lincoln County Americans at 6 p.m. The Americans received an opening round bye Friday night.
The Franklin County All-Stars will battle the loser of the Pine Hill/Natchez All-Stars contest at 7:30 p.m. in the loser’s bracket.
The tournament at Bude will continue on Monday with one game or two games starting at 6 p.m. The championship game will be played on Tuesday beginning at 6 p.m., unless Saturday’s thunderstorm caused the postponement of the tournament in which the games would resume on Monday and conclude on Wednesday.

Lincoln County and Franklin County baseball fans witnessed a great offensive thriller Friday night in the opening round of 11- and-12-year-old Dixie Youth tournament.
After battling through a tough offensive series the Lincoln County Nationals managed to secure a big lead and held on for the win.
Dylan Reeves was the winning hurdler on the mound for the Nationals with eight strikeouts. Reeves gave up only one run in three innings pitched.
Connor Hall and Dylan Carter also pitched in relief. Hall tossed 1.1 innings with two strikeouts and Carter pitched 1.2 innings and had four strikeouts.
Carter provided the offensive charge to lead the Nationals at the plate with a two-run home run. JT McCaffrey, Colby Carwyle, Cooper Moak and Trace Brady contributed two singles apiece. Jon Allbritton, Konner Fauver and Sam Smith hit safely.
