Biloxi – Josh Fellhauer’s pinch-hit single in the 10th inning sent the Biloxi Shuckers to a 2-1 walkoff win over the Mississippi Braves on Wednesday night at MGM Park to open up a three-game series.

With Nick Shaw standing at second base, Fellhauer stepped in and hit a Tyler Jones offering to the right-centerfield gap, breaking a 1-1 tie that had stood since the 6th inning.

It was only Jones’ fourth pitch of the game in relief, coming on for Francisco Rondon (2-2), who allowed a Shaw single to start the inning. Jones entered the game and Adam Weisenburger sacrificed Shaw to second for the first out of the inning.

The loss spoiled the best outing of the season for M-Braves (36-38; 3-3) starter Greg Ross, who took a no-decision after allowing just a run on nine hits in seven innings. He was matched step for step by Shuckers (47-27; 4-2) starter Tyler Wagner, who allowed a run on seven hits over eight innings.

Reliever Mike Strong (3-0) picked up the win for Biloxi, throwing the final two innings scoreless on one hit.

The Shuckers started the scoring in the first inning. Nathan Orf hit the first of his two doubles, and Orlando Arcia singled him home for a 1-0 lead.

The M-Braves got their lone run off Wagner in the sixth inning when Matt Lipka launched a home run to left on a 1-2 fastball. It was his first home run in exactly two years to the day, last leaving the yard on July 1, 2013 for the advanced-A Lynchburg Hillcats.

It was the Braves’ first home run since June 4, ending the longest homerless drought in team history at 21 games.

The Braves continue the set with game two against the Shuckers on Thursday night, with right-hander Victor Mateo (4-4, 2.49) taking on Shuckers right-hander Jorge Lopez (6-2, 2.80). First pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m. from MGM Park.
