The Daily Leader picked up six awards, including a first place award for Brookhaven Magazine, at the Mississippi Press Association’s annual Better Newspaper Contest.

The winners were announced Saturday in New Orleans.

The newspaper also won awards for General News Story, General Interest Column, Feature Photograph, Sports Feature and Special Section.

Judges for the contest praised Brookhaven Magazine for its “great photography and stories,” writing that it “really catches the flavor of Brookhaven’s citizens.”

The Daily Leader competed against other daily newspapers in the state with similar circulation.
