SUMMIT – Coach Patsy Sandifer is leaving Southwest Mississippi Community College to rejoin the Lawrence County School District. She has directed the softball program for nine years. In that time she has helped improve the program with facilities, recruitment, player enhancement, and player academic performance.

“I am so proud of the young ladies I’ve had the privilege to coach. We’ve had players who have gone on to become professionals in their career of choice. Some are nurses, attorneys, coaches, and the list goes on. What an honor to coach at the college level and see young ladies develop both on and off the field.”

“The future looks great for Southwest Softball,” Sandifer continued, “and I feel great that I have had a hand in making the program better. There is a strong group of ladies coming in for the 2015-16 school year, both the returning players along with freshmen. I look forward to seeing their accomplishments.”

Sandifer lead Southwest to Academic All-American Teams in her nine years (Team GPA of 3.0 or higher), along with coaching players who were All-South Division, All-State, All-Region, Academic All-American, and Distinguished Academic All-Americans. Many players graduated from Southwest to continue to play at different universities and have been successful at the next level.

Along with being the head softball coach, Sandifer also worked in the Counseling Center for five years, taught online classes for seven years, taught Orientations classes for four years, and advised students academically. She has been a member of the NJCAA, the MACJC, the Mississippi Association of Coaches, the Mississippi High School Activities Association, and the National Federation Coaches Association.

Sandifer heads to Lawrence County School District as the Lawrence County High School Counselor. “This is a job I had previously and I’m looking forward to being back home,” Sandifer said. “Lawrence County is where I’m from and it’s home to me. Most of my family resides in Lawrence County and it will give me an opportunity to see them more and be involved more with them. I truly feel the Lord has opened this door for me and I’m taking that opportunity.”
