Lady Panthers fall to Picayune

The Brookhaven Lady Panthers rallied back to force a deciding game-three contest Friday night after blanking the Picayune Lady Maroon Tide 6-0 in game two.
In game three of the series Friday night, the Lady Tide put together several two out rallies throughout the contest to end Brookhaven’s season with a 9-2 win.
In Thursday contest on Picayune, the Lady Tide captured a 4-1 win over the Lady Panthers.
“This was not the way we wanted to finished the season,” BHS coach Mandy Vinson said. “Overall, I was very pleased with my girls’ efforts. They have worked hard all season to get here, and we have improved a lot as a team. I would like to thank the seniors for their hard work and dedication. They help set the foundation in our program, and they will be missed dearly.”
The Ole Brook Lady Panthers finished the year with 18-8 record overall and finished second in Region 6-5A action with a 2-2 record.
Pelahatchie 4, Brookhaven 1
Elizabeth Taggard was the winning pitcher in game one with four strikeouts and two walks.
Katherine Shell suffered the setback on the rubber for Brookhaven with one strikeout and three walks.
Katie Grace Culpepper paced Ole Brook’s offense with two singles, Tia Bussey, Fallon Brooks, Haley Speaks, Kat Wallace and Shell hit safely.
Alyssa Pinero directed the Lady Tide offense with two singles. Megan Dudenhefer, Elizabeth Taggard, Marissa McDonald and Lauren Walker hit a single each.
Brookhaven 6, Picayune 0
In game two, the Lady Panthers came out and quickly overpowered Picayune scoring four runs in the first inning, one run in the second inning and added one more run in the sixth inning to collect the win and force a decisive game-three contest.
“I was very proud of the way the girls bounced back after a tough lost Thursday night to collect the win,” Vinson said. “Shell pitched a great game and the girls played well defensively.”
Shell pitched the victory for Ole Brook with three strikeouts and four walks.
Megan Dudenhefer suffered the lost for Picayune with four strikeouts and seven walks.
Fallon Brook powered the Lady Panthers at the plate with a home run and a single. Shell, Bussey and Culpepper hit safely.
Dudenhefer led the Lady Tide offense with two singles. Madyson Turnage and Taggard had a single each.
Picayune 9, Brookhaven 2
In game three, Brookhaven captured an early 2-0 lead after Shell smashed a two-run homerun in the bottom of the first inning.
Picayune battled back to tie the contest by the third inning, before putting together a six-run jolt between the fourth and fifth inning to take a commanding 8-2 lead.
The Lady Tide would add another run to their lead in the top of the seventh inning to lead 9-2 and spoiled Brookhaven’s rally attempt in the bottom of the seventh inning to collect the win.
Dudenhefer pitched the win for the Lady Tide with two strikeouts and one walk.
Shell absorbed the setback for Ole Brook with six strikeouts and four walks.
Shell directed the Lady Panthers at the plate with a home run and a single. Haley Speaks provided two singles. Jada Henderson, Brooks and Culpepper hit safely.
Taggard sparked the Lady Tide’s offense with two doubles and two singles. Riley Dausey and Pinero had a double and a single each. Dudenhefer singled.
