Lincoln County School District is ramping up for the end of the school year.

Assistant Superintendent Letha Presley told the board of Trustees Monday night that the schools are about to finish testing and nine-weeks test will begin soon. She said the four schools are also preparing for graduation.

“We’re just trying to finish it up and get ready to start all over,” she said.

The board also approved to pay the difference in a water bill for an individual due to a leak. A bus driver ran over a water spigot on the individual’s property causing an $81.09 spike.

“I mean it don’t look like we have a choice,” Ricky Welch, board member, said.

The board agreed to pay the difference but decided that the bus would not be allowed to turn around at that location any more.

In other board business:

• The board approved recommendations and salaries for Bogue Chitto, Enterprise, Loyd Star, West Lincoln, the central office, transportation department and child nutrition for the 2015-2016 school year.

• The board approved the financial report. Cheryl Shelby, LCSD business manager, said the cash balance is high since the ad valorem taxes have been collected. She said that amount will have to last them throughout the next year.

• The board approved to advertise for bids for dust control, gas and diesel, oil, propane, pest control, waste management/trash bins and lawn care.

The next meeting will be May 4 at 5 p.m. The board will recognize retirees and teachers of the year.
