Green Wave sweeps Bobcats

BOGUE CHITTO – The Natchez Cathedral Green Wave swallow the Bogue Chitto Bobcats 12-0 Thursday night in Region 7-1A baseball action at Stan Long Field.
Cathedral managed to capitalize a few key hits through the night with some key errors that was made by the Bobcats to secure the victory. The Bobcats were not in sync Thursday night as Steven Ginn started on the mound for BC. Ginn pitched four innings and finished with two strikeouts and two walks
Cameron Price (0K, 0BB) and Brooks Ingles (2K, 0BB) came in the final innings and pitched some in relief,
Natchez Cathedral relied on the strong arm of Sam Parker to lead them to the victory as he had two strikeouts and two walks in a two hit shutout.
In the top of the first inning, the Green Wave started off strong with their second batter Craig Bradley hitting a single out to left field and was able to advance to second base on a Bobcat error. Zach Flattmann hit a single to score Bradley, but was caught on rundown between first and second base for the second out. Ginn struck out the heavy hitter, Quinton Logan, of Cathedral to record the third out.
In the first three innings, the Bobcats struggled to find the offensive rhythm, but did played tough defense until the fourth inning.
In the fourth inning, everything started to unravel for Bogue Chitto as Cathedral plated three runs. BC would finally get their first hit of the night when Joey Elliot hit a hard line drive into center field. Brooks Ingle would get a two outs single out in left field to advance Elliot. The bottom of the fourth inning would end with Bo Smithers flying out to center.
The fifth inning was a big inning for the Green Wave. Cathedral scored seven runs on four hits, while capitalizing on three Bobcats errors to secure the win in five innings of action.
Joey Elliot and Brooks Ingle were the top hitters for the Bobcats with a single apiece.
Craig Bradley paced the Green Wave offense with two singles. Zach Flattmann and Quiton Logan ripped a double each. Andrew Beasley, Reed White, Gabe Smith and Jacob Jenkins hit safely.
The Bobcats (9-6, 1-3) will be in action Saturday as they host the Enterprise Yellow Jackets. Junior varsity action begins at 11 a.m., followed by the varsity game at 1 p.m.
