The West Lincoln Bears defeated Bogue Chitto 11-5 in seven innings of high school baseball action Saturday afternoon.

The Bears (5-7, 3-1) resume action Tuesday as they travel to Bassfield for a big Region 7-2A test. Junior varsity action begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

The Bobcats (6-4, 1-1) returns to action Tuesday as they visit Brookhaven to take on the Ole Brook Panthers at Moyer Field. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.

West Lincoln 11, Bogue Chitto 5 

The Bears jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Bryce Temple got things going for the West Lincoln with a single. Temple advance to second after Ty Forman received a walk. Seth Bivens ended scoring Temple and Forman after hitting a single.

The Bobcats rallied back to tied the game at 2-all in the top of the second inning, but the Bears battled back and did not relinquish the lead after scoring one run in the second inning.

West Lincoln scored three runs in the third inning, and matched that run total in the fourth.

Bogue Chitto would score two more run in the top of the fifth inning to cut into West Lincoln’s lead at 9-4, but the Bears would answer with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to push their lead to 11-4 on a RBI single by Austin Burris and an RBI double by Temple.

The Bobcats would score only one run in the top of the seventh inning as West Lincoln held on for the win.

Hunter Maxwell got it done on the hill for West Lincoln to get the win. He allowed two runs over four innings. Maxwell struck out four, walked none and gave up four hits.

Bo Smithers suffered the setback on the mound for BC. He allowed six runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out four.

Bryce Temple went a perfect 4-4 at the dish for the West Lincoln Bears Varsity. He singled in the first, third, and fourth innings and doubled in the fifth inning.

Hunter Maxwell, Seth Bivens, and Alex Neal contributed a double and a single each. Charles Wayne Smith provided two singles. Brady Thompson hit a triple. Hitting safely were Austin Burris and Ty Forman

Steven Ginn and Tucker Lambert powered the Bobcats at the plate with a home run and a single each. Cameron Price and Rudy Brumfield provided a double each. Nick Parker had a triple. Joey Elliott and Brooks Ingle hit safely.
