JACKSON – The Loyd Star Hornets suffered a tough 1-0 loss to the St. Andrews Saints in baseball action Monday afternoon at Smith-Wills Stadium.
“I was very pleased by our young guys pitching performances on the mound,” said Loyd Star coach Jared Britt. “Cade, Dylan and Konner did an excellent job against a solid St. Andrews line up. We mad some great defensive plays behind them also, but just could not get our bats going until the last inning. Grogan did a good job on the mound for Saints.”
The Hornets (5-4, 2-0) continue action today as they prepare to travel to Columbia to battle the East Marion Eagles in a huge Region 7-2A contest. Junior varsity action begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.
