The West Lincoln Bears captured their first win of the season Thursday night after defeating the East Marion Eagles 14-7 in Region 7-2A baseball action at the Cow Palace.
“It feels really good to win our first game of the season,” said West Lincoln’s new head baseball coach David Gilbert. “These guys have worked so hard, just to come up short in the earlier games this season. The guys were determined to win tonight after suffering a tough loss to East Marion last Tuesday.
“Overall, I was very pleased with my guys efforts,” continued Gilbert. “It was a all around team effort as the guys got some timely hits at the plate to score runs and had quality pitching on the mound.”
West Lincoln (1-6, 1-1) is schedule to host the South Pike Eagles tomorrow. Junior varsity action is set to start at 11 a.m., followed by the varsity game at 1 p.m.
