In the first game of the Lincoln County Invitational Tournament which was hosted by Enterprise, the Bogue Chitto Bobcats defeated the West Lincoln Bears 8-5 Friday afternoon.

The Bobcats scored early and often. Nick Parker got a big hit in the first inning to start the Bobcats off. Steven Ginn had a base hit to score Nick putting the Bobcats on the board first. Bogue Chitto would play good defense through the whole game and that would help BC on the offensive side of the game.

West Lincoln was not able to get on the scoreboard until the third inning but was not able to score enough runs to beat the Bobcats. The Bears scored four runs in the third inning.

In the second inning, the Bobcats scored five runs after the great pitching by Steven Ginn. Seth Bivens for the Bears walked five players from the Bobcats line up. Tucker Smith was able to reach the bag on a base hit out into center field. Tyler “Rudy” Brumfield had a fly out to left field and was able to score Bo Smithers. Grant Leake found the bag by an error by the third baseman of the West Lincoln Bears. The Bobcats was able to bat around in the second inning forcing the Bears to change pitchers. Turner Pyles for the Bears was able to strikeout Tucker Smith for the third out to get the Bears off the field.

In the third inning, the Bears got it started with a base hit out left field by Lofton Sills. The Bobcats fought back and struck out Turner Pyles for the first out of the inning. Austin Burris got a double in the third inning to score Lofton Sills. Ty Forman got on base by an error by the shortstop of the Bobcats. The Bears got a big break when Brooks Ingles tried to make a diving catch but was not able to hang on to the ball, which would allowed the Bears to score a few more runs. Seth Bivens for the Bear would fly out to center field for the second out of the inning. Charles Wayne Smith struck out for the third out of the inning. Bogue Chitto managed to get off the field before West Lincoln could make anymore damage.

The Bears managed to keep the Bobcats from scoring in the fourth inning. Bo Smithers got on base by an error by the third baseman of the Bears. The Bobcats would put Nick Parker on the mound to finish out the game. With the pitcher change the Bears were not able to adjust until the sixth inning but that was too late for West Lincoln. Seth Bivens would get on base by a hit by pitch. Charles Wayne Smith had a base hit to get on base. Daniel Spears got on base by a fielder’s choice and was able to score Bivens. Pyles was the last victim of the Bobcats to end the game.

Hitters for the Bobcats were Steven Ginn, Tucker Smith and Tyler “Rudy” Brumfield, all with singles, and Nick Parker had a double and a triple.

Hitters for the Bears were Bryce Temple, Charles Wayne Smith, and Lofton Sills, all with singles, and Austin Burris had a double.

Pitchers for the Bobcats were Steven Ginn with four strikeouts and one walk and Nick Parker with two strikeouts and three walks. The Bobcats had two errors.

Pitchers for the Bears were Seth Bivens with three strikeouts and five walks and Pyles with one strikeout and five walks. The Bears had two errors.
