Bogue Chitto split with Cathedral

NATCHEZ – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats and the Natchez Cathedral Green Wave captured district wins in Region 7-1A basketball action last Friday night.
In the girls contest, the Lady Cats defeated the Lady Green Wave 49-43
In boys action, the Green Wave crushes the Bobcats 61-34.
Bogue Chitto will be in action today at they travel to Pelahatchie to take on the Pelahatchie Chiefs for two huge division games. The girls will begin action at 6 p.m., followed by the boys.
Lady Cats 49, Lady Green Wave 43
The Lady cats basketball team came into Natchez and defeated the Lady Waves in district play Friday Night 49-43. In the opening quarter the Lady Cats only scored nine points to start out the game. The lady Green Waves only scored ten to start the game.
Zariah Matthews scored a basket at the top of the key for three points. Taneshia May got on the board with a couple of field goals and two made free throws. Smith, for the Lady Green Waves, scored all their ten points in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Lady Cats won the quarter with scoring 17 points. The Lady Cats got a couple of three point shots from Terrah Nelson. Taneshia May contributed again with a field goal and free throws. Christian Black was able to get on the board with field goals and a free throw. Lauren McCaffrey helped the Lady Cats with making a free throw.
For the Lady Green Wave, Watts had the most points of the quarter with five points. Most of her five points were made on the free throw line. She also had a field goal to add to it. Lewis and Smith also had a field goal apiece.
In the third quarter, the lady cats came out of the locker room with a 24-18 lead, but that did last long. The Lady Waves came out of the locker room with a fire. The Lady Wave would score seventeen points in the quarter to pull the deficit by one. The Lady Cats scored twelve points to keep their lead going into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Cats was able to end the game having six more points than the Lady Waves. The Lady Wave put up a good fight but fell short, just like most of their competition they have played this season.
Offensively for the Lady Cats, Christian Black had eleven points and fourteen rebounds. Taneshia May had eleven points and eleven rebounds. Terrah Nelson had ten points and five rebounds. Zariah Matthews had nine points and eight rebounds. Lauren McCaffrey had three points and nine rebounds. Karlie Williams had two points and one rebound. Lineka Newson had four rebounds. Cheyenne Hall had one rebound.
Green Wave 61, BC 34
In boys action the Natchez Cathedral Green Waves defeat the Bogue Chitto Bobcats 61-34 in district play. Both teams were head to head for the first two quarters of the game. The Green Waves went into the locker room with a six-point lead.
The Bobcats came out of the locker room in the third quarter with no fire about themselves. The Green Waves won that quarter extending their lead by almost twenty points. The Bobcats just quit playing the second half.
Offensively for the Bobcats, Dakota McGary had 9 points and 2 rebounds. D.J. Nunnery had 9 points and 4 rebounds. Jeremiah Perkins had 7 points and 6 rebounds. Will Fauver had 5 points and 3 rebounds. Tyler Brumfield had 5 points and 2 rebounds. Brandon Blackwell had 2 points and 1 rebound.
In the junior varsity boys contest, the Green Wave defeated the Bobcats 47-33. The Green Waves towered over the Bobcats in the game. The Green Waves came out on fire to put up some quick points.
The Bobcats started fighting back but just was not able to come back. Offensively for the Bobcats, Matthew Black had seven points. LaFredick Dillon had seven points. Darius Porter had six points. Brandon Blackwell, Damarcus Goldbolt, and Jermaine Black all had five points apiece.
