Lady Jackets win Holiday tournament

HATTIESBURG – The Enterprise Lady Jackets won the Sacred Heart Christmas tournament last weekend in high school basketball action at Sacred Heart Gymnasium.
In Friday night action, the Lady Jackets defeated the St. Aloysius Lady Flashes 52-30. In Saturday action, the Lady Jackets overpowered Christian Collegiate to gain a 41-27 victory.
Enterprise will enjoy the rest of their holiday break, before returning to action Tuesday, January 6 as they host the Bogue Chitto Bobcats for three games, starting with the junior varsity boys contest at 5 p.m.
Lady Jackets 52, Lady Flashes 30
The Lady Jackets came out and quickly took care of business as they clobbered the Lady Flashes with a 20-3 run in the first quarter and cruised to an 27-14 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, Enterprise continued to overpower the Lady Flashes with a 25-16 push to secure the win.
Carlee Nations powered the Lady Jackets (13-3) charge with 19 points and five assists. Michele Herrington contributed 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Adrienne Byrd was the leader on the boards with eight rebounds and added three points. Megan Rippy helped on the boards with seven rebounds.
Grace Upshaw was the top scorer for the Lady Flashes with nine points.
Enterprise 41, Christian Collegiate 27
In Saturday’s contest, the Lady Jackets managed to overcome a slow first quarter start to take a 22-17 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Enterprise outscored Christian Collegiate 19-10 to win the tournament.
Hannah Kirtfield direct the Lady Jackets’ offense with 11 points. Courtney Greer contributed eight points and Rippy scored seven points. Alissa Barlow paced Enterprise on the boards with seven rebounds and added six points. Byrd gathered six rebounds,
Madison Bishop paced Christian Collegiate’s offense with 11 points.
