The Franklin County Bulldogs and the Hazlehurst Indians claimed special honors in the selection of the All-Region 7-3A Football Team.

Franklin County’s senior Michael White received the Most Valuable Player of the Year awards on the 2014 All-Region 7-3A team. FC’s junior Trinity Coleman earned the Special Teams Player of the Year. Franklin County was also selected as the Coaching Staff of the Year.

In the other recognitions, Hazlehurst’s junior Michael Miller was chosen as the Most Valuable Offensive Player in Region 7-3A. Freshmen Tim Steward was selected as the Most Valuable Defensive Player for the Indians.

The coaches from the Region 7-3A classification gather together and voted on the players selected.

Joining Franklin County’s White and Coleman on the all-region first team selection is Bernard Selmon (Sr.), Danzel Allen (Sr.), DeMatre Collins (So.), DeAnthony King (Sr.), Chris O’Quinn (Jr.), DeAnthony Hunt (Sr.), Conner Quin (Sr.)

Representing Hazlehurst with first team honors are DeAnte Mitchell (Jr.), Shawn Vardaman (So.), Anfernee Jordan (Jr.), Fredrick Stewart (Sr.), Raiko Williams (Jr.), Malik Gray (So.).

In Wesson’s second year in Region 7-3A, Kendrick Brown (Jr.), Farrod Green (Sr.), Tyler Christmas (Sr.), Enrique Smith (Sr.), received first team honors.

Second Team all-region honors went to Franklin County’s Greg Queen (Jr.), James Thomas (Sr.), Marquis Hunt (Jr.).

Hazlehurst’s second team honors went to LaDarius Williams (Jr.), Kenja Hilton (Sr.), Patrick Harris (So.), LeChris Hood (Jr.), Jaquavius Henly (So.), Damarius Wilson (Jr.), Cyrus Goodwin (Sr.).

For Wesson, second team honors went to Justin Boone (Sr.), Arthur Harris (So.), Timothy Craft (Sr.), Bobby Pritchard (So.).

On the honorable mention list: Dontavious Felton, Keontre Hayes, Austin Wallace, Graham Cowart were chose for Franklin County. On Hazlehurst team was Demetrius Swilley. On Wesson, Tyler McLeod, Jermaine James, Jeremiah Stapleton, Blake Burns.

The Franklin County Bulldogs, coached by Anthony Hart, won the Region 7-3A crown with a 7-4 overall record and finished undefeated in the region race with a 5-0 record to advanced to the Class 3A state playoffs as the No. 1 seed.

Hazlehurst, coached by Todd McDaniel, finished in second place in a rebuilding season with a 5-6 overall record while posting a 4-1 record in division action.

The Wesson Cobras, coached by Ronald Greer, finished in fourth place in their second year membership of the Class 7-3A race. The Cobras posted a 4-8 record overall and had earned a 2-3 record in district play to make the playoffs.
