Enterprise clobbers Pisgah

The Enterprise Jackets and Lady Jackets captured four straight victories over the Pisgah Dragons Friday night in the junior varsity and varsity basketball action at Enterprise Gymnasium.
In the girls’ contest, the Lady Jackets (4-0) remain undefeated on the season after thumping the Lady Dragons 50-13.
In boys’ action, the Jackets (2-2) sting the Dragons 54-58.
In junior varsity action, the Lady Jackets crushed the Lady Dragons 33-19. In the boys’ contest, Enterprise toppled Pisgah 36-16.
Enterprise will resume action Monday as they prepare to travel to Bogue Chitto to take on their Lincoln County rivals for four games. Junior varsity action starts at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity games at 6 p.m.
Enterprise 50, Pisgah 13
The Lady Jackets came out and quickly extinguished the flames of the Lady Dragons early in the first quarter with a 13-2 run. In the second quarter, Enterprise continued to outscore Pisgah with another 13-5 push to secure a 26-7 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, the Lady Jackets continued their offensive scoring onslaught on the Lady Dragons as they increased their lead with a 16-3 explosion to take a 42-10 lead into the final quarter. From there, the girls’ cruised to the win.
“This was a good win for us,” said Enterprise coach Jill Nations. “I was extremely proud to give everyone some playing time. My girls are doing a great job working hard everyday in practice to prepare for these games, and it showed tonight.”
The Lady Jackets provided a balance scoring attack as Markie Case, Hannah Kirtfield and Megan Rippy led the onslaught with eight points apiece. Carlee Nation contributed seven points, six steals and three assists. Alissa Barlow powered the boards for Enterprise with six rebounds and two steals. Rippy gathered five rebounds and had three steals.
Aaliyah Pierce was the top scorer the Lady Dragons with six points.
Enterprise 84, Pisgah 58
The Jackets came out hungry for their second win of the season as they quickly overwhelmed Pisgah in the opening quarter to take a 17-9 lead.
In the second quarter, Enterprise continued to keep the pressure on the Dragons as they put together a 25-13 run to have a comfortable 42-22 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Jackets continued to sting the Dragons as they thumpd the Dragons 36-26 in the final two frames of action to secure the win.
“I was very pleased with my guys efforts tonight,” said Enterprise coach John Knight. “Everyone played together as a team and play hard to get the win.”
The Jackets had three players score in double figures as Jontavious Smith, a eighth grader, led the team with a game-high 21 points, four rebounds and four steals. Dwayne Pendleton chipped in with 19 points and was the leader on the boards with seven rebounds. Marvin Butler added 12 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Avenyon Harris paced the Dragons’ offense with a team-high 17 points. T. J. McGinnis contributed 15 points and Tabarris Evans had 12 points.
In junior varsity action, the Lady Jackets claimed a 33-19 win over the Lady Dragons. Brooke Forster paced the Lady Jackets with 14 points. Pisgah was lead in scoring by Ady Copley with seven points.
In the boys’ contest, Enterprise defeated Pisgah 36-16. Peytin Jergins pumped in 15 points to lead the Jackets. Jadarrian Allen netted 12 points. Jeffrey Cole directed the Dragons with 10 points.
