Lady Eagles eliminate Lady Bears

The West Lincoln Lady Bears hosted the Eupora Lady Eagles for the opening round of south state 2A slowpitch softball playoffs.
West Lincoln saw their season come to an shocking end Tuesday night as the Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Bears 11-1 and 9-3 in two straight games in the best-of-three series.
“I am really proud of our girls. We were undefeated in our district for the past 2 years. The girls have worked hard to have a 23-6 record with only 4 games being lost during regular season. I believe that this is the best season we have ever had going into playoffs” said West Lincoln coach Andrew Redd.
West Lincoln finished the season with a 23-6 record overall and posted 6-0 record in district action to win back-to-back Region 7-2A championships.
Eupora 11, West Lincoln 1
The Lady Eagles bats were hot in the first game in the best of three series on Tuesday afternoon at West Lincoln. The Lady Eagles took the lead in the second inning with 2 runs.
Eupora added a run in the third inning to lead 3-0. West Lincoln’s Peyton White scored in the third inning narrowing the lead to 3-1. The Lady Eagles bats powered through the fourth inning scoring 5 runs on 6 hits pushing the score to 8-1 and tacked on 3 additional runs in the top of the sixth inning increasing the lead to 11-1.
The Lady Bears were unable to get more runs across the plate and the final score after 6 innings was 11-1.
Makennah Redd absorbed the setback for the Lady Bears with 2 strikeouts and 1 walk.
The Lady Bears were led by Millane Lewis and Malori Hall with 2 singles each. Hitting safely were Makennah Redd, Hanna Moak, Layton Sills, Alli Mullins, and Peyton White.
Eupora 9, West Lincoln 3
The Lady Bears faced a must win game to continue the best of three series in game two of the afternoon. West Lincoln came out hitting in the first inning with 4 hits but was unable to score a run.
The Lady Eagles continued their hot hitting streak and came up with 2 runs on 4 hits in the bottom of the first inning. Both teams went scoreless in the second inning.
The Lady Bears took the lead in the top of the third inning including a home run by Alli Mullins. Eupora tied the score at 3-all in the third with a home run.
The Lady Eagles scored 6 runs in the fourth inning taking a lead 9-3. The Lady Bears were unable to close down the gap as Eupora won Game Two with a 9-3 score and advance to the second round of the south state tournament.
Makennah Redd suffered the setback for the Lady Bears with 4 walks.
The Lady Bears were led by Alli Mullins with a home run and 2 singles. Peyton White and Addie Spring each had 2 singles. Hitting safely was Malori Hall, Layton Sills, and Millane Lewis.
