The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission of Colleges’ preliminary report was presented to the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Board of Trustees Thursday and board members were very pleased with the results. The commission board members toured the campus last week. Their mission is to assure the educational quality and improve the effectiveness of its member institutions
The committee report made a few suggestions for Co-Lin improvements: in general education and one pertaining to the Quality Enhancement Plan.
“This was truly a team effort that involved 1,000 hours of work,” said Co-Lin President Ronnie Nettles. “We received so many compliments.”
Nettles said throughout their tour of the school SACSCCs members were impressed with the education, students, faculty and facilities of the college.
Actions being taken to respond to recommendations include: revise a class requirement in the undergraduate degree program catalog, better monitor the progress of students in general education competencies and strengthening the institutional capability and the assessment plan for the Quality Enhancement Plan.
“The committee was very complimentary of the report and said it was the best assessment plan they have seen in a long time,” said Nettles. “We have so much to be proud of and sometimes it helps to have people remind us of how unique we are.”
