Wesson edges Franklin Co.

MEADVILLE- The Lady Cobras traveled down Highway 84 to extend their Region 7-3A winning streak to 3-0 after fighting back to edge the Franklin County Lady Bulldogs 6-4 in slowpitch softball Tuesday night.
Wesson will host the South Pike Lady Eagles Thursday. Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m. and the varsity game starts at 6 p.m.

The Lady Cobras defeated the Lady Bulldogs in a 6-4 win. Wesson battled to overcome Franklin County by putting runs on the scoreboard in the seventh inning.
Kaitlyn Smith (RBI-2), Harmoni Ashley (RBI-1) and Abby Meredith (RBI-1) all got a single and a double each. Brooke Jones and Madison Jones both got a double. Other hitters for the Lady Cobras were Kayla Britt, Amber Brinson, Aurianna Vaughn (RBI-1) and Cheyenne Jenkins with singles.
Pitcher Madison Jones averaged four walks and one strikeout. Top fielder for the Cobras was Harmoni Ashley with seven outs at first base. Kayla Britt had three outs and four assists at shortstop.
The top player for the Lady Bulldogs was Sierra Bethley with two singles and five outs at first base. Pitcher Shelly Case had three walks and two strikeouts.
