Funeral Services for JC Thompson of Brandon are 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at Hartman Funeral Home with burial in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb. Dr. David Millican will officiate. Hartman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Hartman Funeral Home and again on Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Thompson, 89, died Sept. 10, 2014, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. He was born on Aug. 28, 1925, in Jackson.
JC was an oil field consultant. He was of the Baptist faith and a longtime member of South McComb Baptist Church and served in World War II in the U.S. Navy Aviation. He was part of many organizations including the Masons Lodge #382 F&AM, Shriners “Hamasa Temple” in Meridian, Past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star Queen Esther Chapter #4 in McComb and member of Eastern Star Chapter #269 in Brandon.
In addition to reading and watching western movies, he enjoyed computers, genealogy and talking about World War II. He loved being with his family. Papaw will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Brenda Kay Cutrer; one sister, Mary Thompson Stevens of Dyersburg, Tennessee; and parent-in-laws, Fred and Ruby Guy Dunn.
Survivors are his wife of 68 years, Irene Dunn Thompson of Brandon; one daughter, Sharon Williams and husband, Paul, of Brandon; grandchildren, Shelly Bonney and fiancé, Jerry Clore, of Noxapater, Megan Williams of Brandon, Patrick Brock and wife, Kerri, of Bogue Chitto; great-grandchildren, Thomas Bonney and Christopher Bonney of Noxapater, Aydya Lambert, Mila Brock, Lola Brock, Bella Brock and Spencer Brock of Bogue Chitto; sister-in-law, Dorothy Acord of Yancy, Texas; brothers-in-law, Ralph W. Dunn of Monroe, Louisiana, and Earl Stevens Jr. of Dyersburg, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
