The West Lincoln Lady Bears are currently undefeated this season after knocking off the Brookhaven Lady Panthers 11-0 Thursday night in slowpitch softball action.

“The girls did a good job hitting the ball tonight,” said West Lincoln coach Andrew Redd. “Overall, I was very pleased with our effort offensively and defensively.”

The Lady Bears (6-0) and Lady Panthers (2-5) will return to action Saturday when West Lincoln hosts a slowpitch softball tournament.

The Lady Bears will start the festivities at 9 a.m. against Franklin County, Brookhaven at 12 p.m. and Bogue Chitto at 4:30.

The Lady Panthers battle Bogue Chitto at 10:30 a.m. and Franklin County at 3 p.m.

West Lincoln 11, Brookhaven 0

The Lady Bears came out strong and quickly took care of business. They put on a hitting clinic against Brookhaven to take a early 8-0 lead in two innings of action.

West Lincoln added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and held off the Lady Panthers in the fifth inning to secure the win.

Makennah Redd tossed the win for West Lincoln with one strikeout and two walks.

Rileigh Allen suffered the setback for the Lady Panthers with no strikeouts and no walks.

Hanna Moak sparked the Lady Bears’ offense with a three-run home run in the second inning. Micah Redd and Millane Lewis fueled the flames with three single each. Malori Hall and Brianna Fauver contributed two singles each. Alli Mullins had a double. Hitting safely were Anna Brooke Davis, Peyton White and Addie Spring.

Brookhaven was led offensively by Jada Henderson, Fallon Brooks, Chantel Quarles and Tia Bussey with a single each.

” We did not hit the ball and make the plays needed to stay in the game,” said BHS coach Mandy Vinson. “We have three games this weekend so we need to come ready to work hard in practice tomorrow.”

In JV action,  West Lincoln and Brookhaven finished in a 2-all tie.

Ashley Thomas was the top hitter for the Lady Bears with three singles. McKenzie Pyles and Demeshia Deer contributed a pair of singles. Sara Jane Doty and Georganna Allen hit safely.

Madison Thompson paced the Lady Panthers at the plate with two singles. Shanlya Jackson had a single.
