WESSON – Area high school baseball players can once again expect to sharpen their skills in the 2014 Copiah-Lincoln Fall Baseball League. Sign-up is now underway as Coach Clay Smith and his staff prepares to host their third year of the league in Wesson.

The league is open to student-athletes in grades 10-12. The cost is $200 per participant and space is limited to the first 48 applicants. The league will begin play on Monday, Oct. 20 and conclude on Thursday, Nov. 13 at Sullivan Field.

“Our fall league will be great for any high school player looking to sharpen up their game during the offseason,” said Smith. “In an instructional league like this, you are constantly teaching the game and focusing on improving through competition and instruction.”

Teams will rotate on a schedule of games played on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights. Student-athletes that are involved in fall sports are asked to talk with their high schools coach before registering for the league. Each team will play a game based on pitch count every week.

The Co-Lin baseball staff and players will coach and instruct each player to help improve their baseball skills. Instruction will be given before, during, and after the games.

Smith begins his second season as the head baseball coach at Co-Lin. In 2014 four Wolves were named to the MACJC All-State team, led by First Team All-State infielder Mitch Little. Little hit .360 with 11 doubles and signed with William Carey University. Smith previously served 10 years as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Belhaven University. Under his tutelage, five former Belhaven Blazers were drafted in the Major League Draft and 12 signed professional contracts. Prior to his time at Belhaven, Smith was an assistant coach at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Those interested in signing up for the 3nd Annual Wolfpack Fall Baseball League should call the Co-Lin baseball office at (601) 643-8412 or they can find the registration form on colinathletics.com under the baseball page.
