Two Brookhaven men have been arrested on charges of robbing a man at his home on Oil Field Lane in Lincoln County Saturday night.
Sheriff Steve Rushing said Michael W. Carroll, 34, and Lakeith M. Brown, 39, both residents of Brookhaven, waited at the victim’s home until he arrived around 6 p.m. Carroll and Brown pretended to have car trouble, Rushing said. As the homeowner was trying to help them, two men grabbed his wallet and fled the scene, according to Rushing.
The sheriff said officers met the men on Highway 550 as they were en route to their residences. Deputies followed the men’s vehicle into the city. Carroll was dropped off at Eastview Apartments on Williams Street and Brown stopped his vehicle on Independence Street. They were both apprehended at their homes.
Neither of the suspects discharged or displayed a deadly weapon during the robbery and no injuries were reported, Rushing said.
Officials said the two men are currently being held at the Lincoln County Jail at $100,000 jail bond each. The amount taken in the robbery has yet to be announced.
The sheriff’s department is continuing to investigate the robbery.
