MEADVILLE – Construction will begin in July on a project to lengthen the Homochitto River Bridge on Highway 33 in Franklin County, according to an announcement by the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

Working with MDOT on the project is T.L. Wallace Construction Co. of Columbia,

The lengthening of the bridge is due to the erosion of the riverbanks. Throughout construction, at least one lane of traffic will remain open at all times. While motorists should expect some minor delays, at no time will the area be completely closed to traffic.
