Hog Wild is a state championship competition sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society. Twenty-seven teams competed in four categories — chicken, pork ribs, pork and beef brisket — for a chance to earn an invitation to compete in the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational BBQ to take place in Lynchburg, Tenn., in October.
Organizers hope to bring back the festival aspect of the competition next year to create a family-friendly event for the community.
