Anyone who has been considering adopting a dog or cat can help “Empty the Shelters” now through May 15.
BISSELL Pet Foundation, a national nonprofit dedicated to ending pet homelessness, is once again prompting a nationwide call for adoption through its Empty the Shelters event.
Brookhaven Animal Rescue League will participate alongside more than 380 other shelters across 43 states to help pets find loving homes through reduced adoption fees, sponsored by BISSELL Pet Foundation.
BARL’s regular fees are lowered to $50 to adopt a cat, kitten, dog or puppy. The fee includes spaying or neutering, vaccinations, and a microchip. A few animals are excluded.
“This event comes at a good time for us,” said Rusty Adcock, BARL president. “Our dog adoptions have been down this year, though we have some great dogs and puppies ready for new homes.”
