The Lincoln County Master Gardeners have distributed seeds to area fourth-grade students for the group’s annual watermelon-growing contest. First- through fourth-place winners will be named according to the weight of their harvested melons at the Exchange Club Fair in August. Master Gardener Steve Edge explained to Brookhaven Elementary students how to grow the melons.
