A Wesson business woman was recently named as one of nine honorees in the Connecting the Dots Foundation’s Women of Distinction.

The foundation’s annual March banquet for National Women’s History Month had the theme of “Moving Forward Together! Celebrating Women Who Teach and Inspire Generations,” and took place at the Jackson Convention Complex.

Maggie Wade Dixon and Walt Grayson served as emcees. During the event, 15 college students were each presented with $1,000 scholarships. Each Woman of Distinction received a gift from Carter Jewelers.

A public relations professional, Jessica Breazeale has also spent years in work with education, Christian ministry and non-profits. In addition to Breazeale, the following were honored: Dr. Erica Webber Jones, president of Mississippi Association of Educators; Gabrielle Hyde, elementary teacher; the late Misha Mack, actress and activist; educator Kristen Stephenson; Dr. Kimberly Hilliard, engineer, and president and CEO of the Center for Social Entrepreneurship; Dr. Nia Day, a catalyst for nursing service, leadership, and advocacy; and Dr. Jennifer Young Wallace, tenured associate professor of K-12 PhD program at Jackson State University.

“It was such a lovely and inspiring night … one that I’ll always remember,” said Breazeale. “Ministry is hard. Hard. Sometimes gut-wrenching. But I don’t do it because it’s easy or always fun. I do it because I’m called to effect change. I see a lot of things that need to be changed. If not me, then who? If not now, then when? So I keep powering on by God’s grace.”
