The Mississippi State Fire Academy has completed Firefighter Class 214. Twenty-two new members have graduated the National Fire Protection Association 1001 Firefighter I-II course at MSFA in Jackson.
Among the graduates is John Franklin Rice Knight, of the Brookhaven Fire Department. McComb Fire Department’s Jacob Stephens is also among the graduating class.
The intense seven-week course includes online, classroom, and hands-on instruction in fire be-havior, fire suppression, rescue, incident command, hazardous materials, and other fire-related topics. The course meets and exceeds the NFPA for firefighter qualifications and the uniform minimum training standards in Mississippi law.
“We are confident the immediate impact and positive difference these firefighters will make — not only within their departments but also in their communities — will truly be substantial,” said Academy Executive Director Kelly Elliott.
