A celebration of life will be held for Rita Davis Cothern at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Riverwood Family with burial in Riverwood Memorial Park. Visitation will start at 12 p.m. until the time of service.

Rita Davis Cothern, 80, of Brookhaven, died peacefully April 5, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Franklin County, MS, February 15, 1945, to Homer Hilton Davis and Maggie Ellisteen Cowart Davis.

Mrs. Cothern was a dedicated member of Central Baptist Church for 59 years where she served in numerous roles. She retired as the office manager at Moak-Massengill Clinic. She loved nature and enjoyed tending to the many flowers in her backyard. She was also a talented seamstress and cook who enjoyed making heirlooms for her grandchildren and baking delicious treats for family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Melvin Homer Davis; and sister, Robbie Davis Jackson.

Those left to cherish her memory are husband of 59 years, Donald Edward Cothern; daughter, Dawn Cothern Covington (Brent); sisters, Jane Davis Heath and Patsy Davis Cothren; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Hennington (Brad Lewis), Suzanna Hennington, Preston Hennington, and Cole Covington; and one great-grandchild, Sutton Hennington.

The family would like to thank Alesha Lyons, Tracy Ezell, Tracy Howell, Kim Roberts, Nicole Gales and staff with Enhabit Home Health and Hospice for their exceptional care for five years.
