RUTH — First responders were able to find a man who went missing in the Ruth Community Sunday afternoon. The man was reportedly riding on an ATV when he was swept away by floodwaters in a creek.
Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency Director Chris Reid said the first call requesting help was at 2:36 pm. First responders were dispatched to the area around Shady Grove Road and Earnest A Thompson Road.
Ruth Volunteer Fire Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Pike County Sheriff’s Office, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, Pike County Strike Team and Pike County EMA worked together to find the man.
McComb’s Swift Water Rescue team was en-route when the man was found around 3:45 p.m. on a road in Pike County. Reid said the man was not injured.
“We thank everyone with the two counties and the state working together,” Reid said. “We were able to have a good outcome and that’s what it is all about.”
