Just as it has for the last two decades, the future of the Copiah-Lincoln Community College football program will be led by a Davis.

The school announced this week that offensive coordinator Micah Davis has been promoted to head coach, replacing his father Glenn, who retired last year after 21 seasons as the head coach of the Wolves.

Micah Davis played high school football at Wesson and then was the starting signal caller for the Wolves during his two-year career at Co-Lin, throwing for almost 2,000 yards as a sophomore.

After red-shirting at Delta State in 2009, Davis then had a standout two-year career under center for the NCAA Division II Statesmen. He ended his career at DSU second in career passing yards, completions, attempts, and total offense and was a finalist in 2011 for the Harlon Hill Trophy, given annually to the best Division II player in the nation after taking Delta State to the national championship game the year before.

Davis was enshrined in the Delta State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.

In his coaching career, Davis has spent time on staff at Western Kentucky University, Louisiana-Monroe, and the University of Kansas.

For the last eight seasons, Davis has been one of his father’s top lieutenants on the staff at Co-Lin.

“We are excited about Coach Micah Davis leading our program,” said CLCC Athletic Director Bryan Nobile in a release by the school. “As a former standout here at Co-Lin and a seasoned coach, he knows what it takes to be successful. We are confident that his leadership and vision will build on our legacy and lead us to new heights both on and off the field.”

Co-Lin finished 5-4 last season and were 10-2 in 2023, finishing that season as MACCC runners-up.

Davis will be one of several new head coaches in the MACCC when the 2025 season begins. Southwest Mississippi hired longtime MACCC assistant coach Les George away from Holmes CC to lead its program. Hinds CC picked former Starkville High head coach Chris Jones to lead the Eagles in Raymond. Jones College promoted from within to name Lytrel Pollard its next head coach and Coahoma CC picked former Hinds head coach Larry Williams to lead its program.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Micah Davis,” said Co-Lin President Dr. Dewayne Middleton in the announcement release. “Coach Davis has demonstrated a commitment to excellence, leadership, and development of student-athletes. I believe that his experience and competitive nature for the game will elevate our football program. The Wolves have a long history of being a tough competitor in the MACCC and we look forward to seeing Coach Micah Davis build on that success.”

Davis isn’t the only member of his family who’s recently received a promotion, as his wife Ashley will be the principal at Mamie Martin Elementary in Brookhaven next year after previously being a longtime assistant principal at the school. They are the parents of three children.
