BOGUE CHITTO — The passenger injured in a single vehicle accident in Bogue Chitto on February 18, 2025 died as a result of their injuries last weekend. Lincoln County Coroner Blake Wallace confirmed the news Monday afternoon. 

Wallace said the passenger Lincoln Carona, a 4-year-old boy, died at UMMC in Jackson on February 20, 2025. The Daily Leader initially reported the crash occurred on Bogue Chitto Road a mile from Pricedale Drive on February 18, 2025. Wallace said the family had been notified of the death. 

Previously reported by The Daily Leader, Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said a Ford Escape left the roadway on the right hand side and struck multiple trees. First responders were dispatched to the call at 12:20 p.m. 

Rushing said the driver was later released from Kings Daughters Medical Center. The crash remains under investigation. Deputies are working to determine the cause of the crash and any contributing factors. 

Wallace said as of February 24 the fatality was one of 61 deaths in Lincoln County since January 1st, 2025.
