BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County Administrator Daniel Calcote delivered good news to the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors Tuesday morning. His report covered the financial position of the county a third of the way through the fiscal year.
Calcote said as of January 31, Lincoln County was 33 percent through the Fiscal Year, Oct. 1 to Sept. 30, and had collected 24.4 percent of projected revenue. He explained the majority of revenue comes in February, March and April
Total expenditures by the County accounted for 39.6 percent of the budget. Calcote explained this is typical as there is more spending early on in the fiscal year.
A few departments were over what is normal in the budget. For example, Constables were 44.3 percent of the annual budgeted expenditures due to a high volume of warrants served in October. Calcote said it should smooth out.
District 2 purchased a new Durapatcher in November putting the district at 44.9 percent of annual budgeted expenditures. The District 2 expenditures will jump up higher with the purchase of a dump truck in February. Calcote said it will get better.
District 5 road fund is at 49.3 percent of budgeted expenditures. Calcote said the district had a large paving project payment in January. Calcote said the road fund should smooth out.
“Most departments are on budget or below,” Calcote said.
