WESSON — Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop C is investigating a crash on I-55 at the 55-mile marker north of the Wesson exit. MHP reports there were injuries in the Monday morning crash. The interstate is back open for the afternoon commute.

According to MHP, the crash occurred in the southbound side of I-55 involving a tanker truck and multiple vehicles. Injuries are reported but the extent of injuries is unknown at this time. Traffic was reportedly being redirected off of I-55 as first responders worked to clear the interstate.

Copiah County Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the crash.

MHP Troop C Public Affairs Officer Darnika Beatrice Mayfield reported the driver of the tanker truck was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
