Cloudy skies proceed rain, risk of severe storms

BROOKHAVEN — Spring sunshine and blue bird skies have gone from this weekend and now grey clouds with cooler temperatures have arrived Monday. While there is no rain in the forecast Monday, the cloudy skies proceed rain and the risk of severe storms later this week. 

The National Weather Service in Jackson forecasts showers tomorrow starting around noon with a 60 percent chance of precipitation for Lincoln County. Showers will be likely again Tuesday night with a 70 percent chance of precipitation. 

Wednesday will have showers and thunderstorms most likely after noon. There is a 90 percent chance of precipitation Wednesday. NWS Jackson warns there is a risk of isolated severe storms Wednesday with damaging wind gusts and tornadoes can not be ruled out. Rain will continue Wednesday night.

Thursday will be sunny with a high of 60 degrees. Isolated showers will be in the forecast starting Thursday night through Friday night. 

NWS Jackson forecasts showers and thunderstorms will be likely Saturday with a 70 percent chance of precipitation at this time. Rain chances will continue Saturday night with an 80 percent chance of precipitation. 

The National Weather Service is warning of possible severe storm risk starting Saturday. Severe storms and tornadoes will be likely Saturday across central and southwest Mississippi. Due to the severe weather event being several days away there are not a lot of details.
