Firefighters extinguish house fire in Bogue Chitto

BOGUE CHITTO — No one was hurt in a house fire in Bogue Chitto Wednesday afternoon. The family dog also escaped the fire, emerging from beneath the home after the fire was extinguished.

Firefighters with Bogue Chitto and Hog Chain Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and got on scene quickly. Additional firefighters from Zetus Volunteer Fire Department showed up to help fight the blaze on Johnson Street in Bogue Chitto. Smoke was showing and enveloped Bogue Chitto’s fire engine as firefighters put on air-packs.

Volunteers made an interior attack and were able to knock down the fire inside the home. Damage to the home was substantial. Firefighters continued to soak hot spots and work overhaul after the fire was put out.
